Ugly Photo Of Trevor Lawrence Getting Smushed Reflects Grim Reality Of Jaguars’ Offensive Line

Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars lost their fourth-straight game on Saturday afternoon. They are now 8-7 after beginning the year at 8-3.

The downward slide is cause for significant concern. Especially each of the last two games.

Jacksonville totaled just 19 points in back-to-back 15+ point losses to Baltimore and Tampa Bay. Its offense has seemingly stalled.

At the forefront of the losing streak is the offensive line. Starting running back Travis Etienne’s mother trashed the Jaguars’ front five while asking Santa for better blocking.

Lawrence likely asked for a similar gift. He has been sacked more this year — through just 15 games — than any other season in his entire career. That includes high school, college, and his first two years in the NFL.

Remember, he won just three games as a rookie. Lawrence was sacked less that season than this season. Not ideal!

Trevor Lawrence has been crushed.

Lawrence was sacked three times for 28 yards against the Buccaneers.

He was on the ground, a lot.

One picture in particular reflects the brutal reality of football and the violence that comes with it.

Trevor Lawrence was crushed by Logan Hall. Tampa’s 283-pound defensive tackle made helmet-to-helmet contact with the quarterback.

Photographer Mike Carlson caught the exact moment that their heads collided. Lawrence’s face is literally rippling in real time in the photo.

So you want to play in the National Football League…? Ouch!

Unfortunately for Lawrence, a new offensive line was not under the tree on Monday. The lack of time in the pocket will not be fixed overnight. It will take a concentrated effort by the front office to build around the franchise signal-caller and put him in a situation where he can thrive.

A lot of people have questioned whether Lawrence can be “the guy” amid his recent third-year drop off. They should look at the photo of his smushed face before jumping to any conclusions!

To judge Lawrence off of this year is not a fair reflection of his capabilities. The Jacksonville Jaguars clearly have an offensive line problem.
