Soccer star Trinity Rodman spoke this week about her relationship with her famous dad, Dennis Rodman, and said he’s an alcoholic who is only her father “by blood.” She made these stunning revelations during an appearance this week on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

The Washington Spirit star, who won a gold medal with the U.S. Women’s National Team this past summer, discussed how Dennis Rodman’s partying lifestyle made it almost impossible for her to live with him. Dennis and Trinity’s mom Michelle Moyer were officially divorced in 2012, though Moyer actually filed in 2004. Trinity Rodman was around 10-years-old at the time the divorce finally went through.

“We had an Expedition and we kind of lived in that for a little bit. We tried to live with him, but he’s having parties 24/7, he is bringing random b–—- in,” Trinity told Alex Cooper. “He loves the spotlight. He loves the cameras. He loves bringing us on stage and being like, ‘These are my kids.'”

She also revealed how Dennis Rodman would be very controlling when it came to money.

“My dad, he likes to be in control. So he would take us shopping, get us phones, do this, do that,” Trinity recalled. “‘Oh, I’m going to take you and your brother shopping,’ and me and my brother are like, ‘We don’t want to go shopping, we just want money to go get In-N-Out after school with our friends.’

“So it was like, he wouldn’t give us money to do that. He needed to have the control of bringing us shopping and swiping his own card. But if we asked, ‘Hey, could we have $100 to go get food, to go to Claire’s to get my ears pierced,’ just little stuff like that? He was like, ‘No. You’re using me.'”

Trinity also spoke about Dennis showing up to one of her biggest NWSL games unannounced after not speaking to her in months, and how it negatively affected her.

“So I’m trying to play this soccer game and I’m crying. … I’m crying, no one knows what the f––‘s going on and I’m looking at [Ashley Sanchez] and like, ‘Dude my dad’s here,’” Trinity revealed, adding, “I finish that half and cry my eyes out in the locker room at halftime. And my coach was like, ‘Do you want to play?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I want to win. Hello?’ And I’m like, ‘He’s not going to take me from winning this either, f— you!'”

After the game, Trinity said, “The whistle blew and I was so mad, like, ‘You took this happy moment from me. You f—— with my head again.’ And he did so many times, and I don’t even know – I think he knows what he does, but…

“And then I walk over, and again there are cameras everywhere… and all I did was cry. I’m walking over there so mad, like ‘f— you.’ I walk over there, he grabs my head and I just start bawling into his arms as if it’s a daddy-daughter like…”

Trinity Rodman then said that after that moment it was three years before she heard from Dennis again.

“I think after that is when I lost hope in ever getting him back,” she said.

Now, she says she answers her phone when he calls for her own conscience. “That’s why I answer the phone, not for me,” she said. “He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else.”

She then added, “Now hearing his voice is like, painful, because I think it’s missing him mixed with, he’s an alcoholic.”

Trinity Rodman also revealed during her appearance on Call Her Daddy that in the past she hesitated to say anything bad about her dad, Dennis.

“We never want to make him look bad, and that is at the cost of kind of holding it in a lot. I guess it’s just like the anger that I haven’t really been able to let out is difficult for me,” Trinity said.
