Trinity Rodman is one of the best young women’s soccer players on the planet.

The 21-year-old is set to make her FIFA Women’s World Cup debut for the United States later this month.

Rodman is part of a new wave of young players hoping to lead the US into the next generation of glory.

She’s also, however, the daughter of Basketball Hall of Fame member Dennis Rodman.

Trinity and her brother DJ, who plays basketball at USC, WERE raised by their mother, Michelle Moyer, the third of Dennis’ three ex-wives.

Both are elite athletics. But Dennis’ has not always been around to support those ventures. Now, ahead of the biggest tournament of her young life, Rodman says she’s made peace with that.

“I watched my dad play a lot more than people really know. I mean, my brother lived watching my dad’s clips. He knows everything and anything there is to know about basketball,” Rodman told Helen Elliott of the Los Angeles Times. “I admire that about him.”

But Rodman said she heard nothing from her superstar father when she made US World Cup roster. She noted that it was not uncommon for him to show up at times and then vanish yet again.

Despite his absence, she says she feels supported nonetheless.

“Like I’ve said before, I’ve gotten closure with it all,” Rodman said. “I know he’s proud of me. I truly do. He has his own things to deal with but at the end of the day, he’s communicated to me that he knows I was going to be here, and that’s all I need.”

Rodman even praised her father for handing down his trademark work ethic and mindset.

“Even the days that he didn’t prepare the best for the games, when he was out partying — I mean, everybody knows that — he was there. It doesn’t even matter what he was doing the night before or the morning of. He was there every single game and you can’t take that away from him,” she said. “His mentality was insane.”

Trinity Rodman may well be the daughter of an NBA legend. But it won’t be long until the entire sports world knows her name.
