Did Tua Tagovailoa Expose His Own Burner Account On Instagram? Awkward Post Does Not Reflect Reality

Tua Tagovailoa may or may not run his own accounts on social media. If he does, the 28-year-old quarterback accidentally exposed his own burner account on Instagram.

I think it is probably an easy explanation.

The NFL quarterback probably handed off the keys to his social media profiles. The person in charge probably made a mistake.

Tua Tagovailoa stays off of social media.

The last two years of Tua Tagovailoa’s NFL career were not great. He led the Miami Dolphins to an 11-6 record in 2023 with career highs in passing yards and touchdowns. He won 12 games, combined, in 2024 and 2025.

To make matters worse, Tagovailoa struggled to stay healthy and repeatedly put himself at risk of head injury by refusing to slide. Concussions have been an issue. As have interceptions.

Miami fans booed Tagovailoa off of the field after a loss last season. The Dolphins benched him for Quinn Ewers in December. They cut him from the roster shortly thereafter.

When asked about the outside noise and whether he sees the criticism, Tagovailoa said that he was “not on social media.” He said he “did not have any of that.” His family’s opinion of him is all that matters.

In the end, Miami agreed to cut its former No. 5 overall pick in March. The Dolphins took on a record $99.2 million in dead money.

Tagovailoa signed a one-year deal with Atlanta two days later. He is currently battling with Michael Penix Jr. (and Jack Stroud!) for the Falcons’ starting job in 2026.

Did he expose his own burner account on Instagram?

Tua Tagovailoa’s official Instagram handle is @tuaman. His account posted a series of photos from the preseason with the Atlanta Falcons. The caption reads: “For the A 🫡”

Shortly after the post went live on Instagram, Tagovailoa’s account commented on the original post. The comment, from @tuaman, hyped himself up. It read: “We’re so proud of you!! You got this ❤️”

Awkward! Tua Tagovailoa commented from his own account on his own post. Did he forget to switch over to his burner? I don’t think so.

If I had to guess, based on what he said about social media last season, Tagovailoa does not run his own account. He likely hired a third-party company to post on his behalf, and/or tasked his wife and/or friends and/or family with posting.

UPDATE: his wife later replied with the exact same comment.

Whomever runs Tagovailoa’s account likely runs the account of his wife and/or parents and/or family and/or friends in addition to the Tagovailoa account. He/she/they probably forgot to switch over to the wife/parents/family/friends account before he/she/they commented in support of Tagovailoa on his own post.

Maybe it is a burner. We don’t know. The comment has since been deleted. I don’t think so.
