Money is absolutely flying around at the beginning of NBA Free Agency today. It seems like mediocre players are getting huge deals, and good-but-not-great players are getting money that would only the best of the best get in other sports. However, one player that deserved the money he got today was Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton.
The 23-year-old guard had arguably the best season of his career last year, averaging just under 21 points and over 10 assists per game, en route to making his first All-Star team for a young Pacers team.
That All-Star appearance helped him earn a huge contract extension on Friday.
BREAKING: All-Star G Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers are agreed on a five-year, designated maximum contract extension that could be worth up to $260 million, his agents Dave Spahn and Aaron Mintz of @CAASports tell ESPN. That is a massive deal. It’s one of the biggest in NBA history, and basically unprecedented for a player with only one All-Star appearance.
Naturally, NBA Twitter was full of takes on Tyrese Haliburton.

Can't wait to see Tyrese Haliburton and Bruce Brown share the floor together. Gonna be instant chemistry.
