Chicago Bears rookie Tyson Bagent is 1-0 as a starting quarterback in the NFL after going undrafted last April on the heels of one of the best careers in Division-II college football history. His legend only continues to grow with each new story that comes out about the 23-year-old.

Tyson Bagent, for those who don’t know, played at Shepherd University in West Virginia and won the D2 Heisman. You can get to know him better HERE!

Of the many interesting quirks to Bagent is his love for Crossfit. If the whole football thing didn’t work out (no pun intended), he was going to become a high school teacher and get as jacked as possible.

That was his backup plan.

Obviously, considering that his first start in the National Football League was a win, that is not the current career trajectory. But he continues to pump as much iron as possible!

Bagent has always been a workout junkie. His approach to the process, however, was rather unique while in the Mountain State.

Shepherd head coach Ernie McCook recently joined Peter Schrager on his podcast ‘The Season’ and told an incredible story about his former quarterback. Bagent had his own customized workout facility across the street from the locker room at the home of his high school teacher. It’s all natural.

They benched logs instead of weight bars. They went on runs with weighted backpacks.

And once the day was done, Bagent and his former teacher-turned-workout partner would recover with a cold bath. The bath, though, was just the Potomac River.

To tell the tale of Tyson Bagent is one of guts and glory. The folklore surrounding his unique training regimen and unusual path to the Bears only continues to grow with every new story about his past.

Bagent will start again for Chicago in Los Angeles this weekend. Justin Fields is aiming for a Week 9 return.

It would be hard to imagine that Bagent will beat out Fields for the starting job, but if he can keep things rolling, it would hard to send the hot hand back to the bench. Especially when he’s such a cool guy!
