The Creighton basketball team was trapped in the perfect storm Wednesday night when it visited Storrs, CT. Top-ranked UCONN pulled out all the stops, including a $2 beer promotion, to create a raucous environment in Gampel Pavilion.

It would succeed, too, in what ended in a 62-48 win for the defending national champs.

The Huskies flexed their muscles on and off the court in the Big East matchup, improving to 16-2 on the year. Fans in attendance got started early, particularly the students that found their way to the arena to indulge in a gameday beer promo.

That deal wouldn’t last long as attendees absolutely annihilated brews in pregame warmups.

Videos began circulating social media showing the students, who are in the midst of syllabus week, pounding drinks and sweeping the evidence into a small corner of the seating section.

It was a murder scene.

The students did so much damage that the $2 beer promotion is said to have ended prior to the opening tip.

A job well done!

As the game progressed, fans used that liquid courage to get loud as the Huskies dominated the Bluejays on the floor. With everyone decked out in white, the arena was rocking watching UCONN jump out to a double-digit first half lead.

The on-court dominance would continue after the break as the Huskies got up by as many as 20 points, and the crowd was loving it.

Scenes of fans and players belting out Taylor Swift lyrics at the tops of their lungs perfectly incapsulated the rowdy atmosphere.

UCONN improved to 6-1 in conference play with the victory, holding onto a share of first place.

Students stumbled out of Gampel Pavilion happily as they made their ways back to campus – or for a celebratory nightcap! The hangover was well worth it.
