All Champions And Challengers Make Weight: Three Title Fights Official For UFC 245

Presented in partnership with UFC 245 PPV on ESPN+ – order now!

It’s all systems go for UFC 245. All fighters have weighed in and we are now just hours away from the final UFC Pay Per View of 2019.

Early this morning, featherweight champion Max Holloway was the first fighter to step on the scale at the official weigh ins, with welterweight challenger Colby Covington closing out the event by hitting the 170 pound mark for his title fight against champion Kamaru Usman that headlines the UFC 245 PPV main card on ESPN+. Hours later, Holloway and Covington elicited the largest crowd reactions at the ceremonial weigh ins.

As predicted, Holloway was greeted by a swarm of flag carrying fans from his native Hawaii at the T-Mobile Arena. And, given Las Vegas’ status as the ninth island of Hawaii, Holloway, who will fight in Sin City for the first time in four years, will step into the Octagon as the local favorite when he takes on Australia’s Alexander Volkanovski.

“The Blessed express is on the move. Make sure you tune in tomorrow night,” offered Holloway, donning a black headband with his “Blessed” moniker emblazoned across the front. “Christmas, New Year’s came early. You’re welcome!”

While Holloway’s presence incited screams and cheers, Covington, the UFC’s Donald Trump loving, MAGA hat wearing heel walked out to boos from the thousands in attendance.

Covington, who is usually quick to disrobe and show off his chiseled frame, was the only fighter who remained fully clothed during the afternoon weigh ins. He also punted a basketball with Usman’s face on it into the stands before further taunting the crowd.

“Las Vegas, this is how you treat a winner? This is how you treat a champion? No wonder the Oakland Raiders are gonna come here. They’re gonna fit right in with the rest of you losers,” commented Covington. “The end of your time is over now, buddy, and since I’m the king of spoilers, this is what’s gonna happen tomorrow night. You see Marty Fake Newsman’s ugly mug? I’m gonna bounce it off the canvas, and I’m gonna kick it into the third row.”

Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and challenger Germaine de Randamie both weighed in at 134.5 pounds. Their fight for the title goes down on December 14 on the UFC 245 Pay Per View on ESPN+.

In addition to the six fighters competing in the three title fights atop the PPV main card, former longtime featherweight champion Jose Aldo was successful in his first attempt to cut down to 136 pounds (there is a one pound allowance in non title fights). Looking gaunt, Aldo still cracked a smile when he stepped on the scale. It will be very interesting to see how he performs against Marlon Moraes come December 14.

The UFC 245 PPV opening act between veteran Urijah Faber and fourth ranked bantamweight Petr Yan got a little heated at the ceremonial weigh ins. With Faber sporting a “Cali’s Dad” headband (in reference to his daughter) he appeared in stark contrast to his normal easygoing, jovial self when facing off with Yan. Yan made an aggressive taunt, but Faber didn’t take the bait or flinch. Actually, seeing an angry Urijah Faber is something very new in mixed martial arts. Just curious to see how he fights with a chip on his shoulder.
