Normally, when you hear a story about UFC champion losing their belt, it’s because they lost a fight, or were stripped of the title due to a rule violation or inactivity. But that’s not the case with reigning light heavyweight champion Carlos Ulberg.

Ulberg won his championship in improbable fashion at UFC 327 in Miami against Jiri Prochazka. After suffering a knee injury in the first round, it appeared that he would have to forfeit the bout. Instead, he was able to land a stunning left hook on a stalking Prochazka, sending him crashing to the mat before eventually finishing the fight via TKO.

In a recent interview with Fox Sports Australia, Ulberg said that he still hasn’t had imaging done to determine the extent of damage to his knee. However, he did reveal another hilarious tidbit about the night he won the championship.

UFC Champ Carlos Ulberg Lost His Title Belt While Celebrating

“I’ve lost the belt, bro,” Ulberg said. “I don’t know exactly where it is. Initially after winning, the plan was to not have a drink. But you know how these things go, right? First, someone gives you a champagne to celebrate. Then one thing leads to another and you’re doing shots. So it’s ‘OK, I’ll have another, and another, and another…’ We’ve got a big group of boys over here in Miami and, when the fight was done, we all went out to the afterparty at a nightclub.

“Then after that, it was back to one of the boys’ apartments and we all hung out there. I didn’t want to be carrying the belt around so I think it’s still there at the apartment somewhere. One of the boys probably has it in bed with him.”

So, let’s get this straight. Not only did Ulberg literally lose the UFC light heavyweight championship belt, but he still doesn’t know where it is?!

On a bright note, each UFC champion receives their own personalized belt that they are meant to keep. So it’s not like Ulberg needs to return the lone UFC light heavyweight championship belt to the company. But it’s still pretty wild that he has no idea where it is.

And we can’t imagine the company is overly happy with the idea of one of its title belts potentially being out there lost to the public.
