Cormier took to social media and shared a long message about his former opponent. Anthony Johnson was a fierce competitor who battled it out with Daniel Cormier more than once. Even so, the former UFC Heavyweight champion offers the perfect message to highlight Johnson as more than just a fighter.

It’s a beautifully written message and hopefully “Rumbles” family appreciates his words. Although these men go to battle in the UFC, it’s nice to see a softer side when something tragic like this takes place. It’s unclear how Anthony Johnson died, however, it is reported he was battling an illness for quite some time.
At the end of the day, this is a tragic situation, as death is never easy. We’re sure Johnson’s family, other fighters, fans, and everyone else he met along the way will miss him. So, rest in peace, Anthony Johnson.
