Yesterday, the University of Miami beat Duke with a miracle play that included 8 laterals. After the game it was evident that there were many missed calls on the play.
Today, the ACC announced the on-field officiating crew as well as the replay official and communicator have been suspended for two games. They also released this statement.
“The quality of our officiating program is of the highest importance to the league and its schools, and the last play of the game was not handled appropriately,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “Officiating is an extraordinarily difficult job but our players, coaches, programs, and fans deserve the best that can be offered. We will continue to strive to meet that standard.”
After the announcement, the University of Miami trolled the ACC on Twitter with this shrug emoji.
