When you think of dominance in sports, USA Men’s Soccer doesn’t come to mind. Let’s face it, we’ve never been among the global elite in the world’s most popular sport on the men’s side, and it’s a considerable uphill climb for us to get there.

But, The USA U17 Men’s Soccer National Team on Monday certainly was dominant on Monday night. They defeated the U.S Virgin Islands in a U17 CONCACAF Qualifying Match for the U17 World Cup by a score you have to see to believe.

The U.S Virgin Islands, understandably, aren’t a soccer power. The total population is around 90,000. That’s the same size as cities like Mission Viejo, California, and Carmel, Indiana. The senior men’s team for the U.S. Virgin Islands is ranked 208th in the world. There are only 210 teams in the rankings.

The two squared off in a CONCACAF Qualifying Match, and it wasn’t pretty.

The USA led 14-0 at halftime and added eight more in the second half for a whopping 22-0 win.

Look at this scoresheet! The Columbus Crew’s Chase Adams scored ten goals!

To put this into perspective, in the history of the FIFA Men’s World Cup, the USMNT has only scored 40 goals total. The USYNT scored over half that total today.

They will be back in action against St. Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday.
