The USC Trojans made waves on Monday after hiring the first female Athletic Director in school history.

Jen Cohen will have her hands full, as she’ll be leading the Trojans into new territory in 2024 when the school begins its journey in the Big Ten.

According to Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic, Cohen has plenty of experience being an Athletic Director, as she held that role with the Washington Huskies.

“She has helmed the Huskies athletic department since 2016 and hired football coach Kalen DeBoer, who led Washington to an 11-2 mark and a top-10 finish in his first season last year.”

After seeing success in Washington, Jen Cohen will aim to bring similar success to USC. With the Trojans making its move to the Big Ten in 2024, hiring Cohen now is perfect timing for USC.

Furthermore, Auerbach claims that Jen Cohen is well-known in the college sports community.

“USC gets a proven leader who has overseen success in many different sports over her tenure at Washington. Cohen is currently a member of the CFP’s selection committee and is already one of the most visible female leaders in college athletics.”

This should be viewed as an exciting hire for USC fans. Jen Cohen has a long history of consistency while working for the University of Washington. Which is something the Trojans have been missing these last several years.

“USC’s athletic department has dealt with several controversies over the past decade-plus so keeping the department out of the news cycles will likely be a point of emphasis,” per The Athletic.

Considering Cohen worked for the Huskies for over 20 years and experienced success for the most part, she could bring stability to a program that desperately needs it.
