Victor Wembanyama had a sensational rookie campaign after being drafted #1 overall in 2023 and he wrapped up the regular season by winning Rookie of the Year, leading the league in blocks, and being named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team. He then hopped on Instagram and started trolling his critics.

Waiting 4 years, or 187 weeks, or a whopping 1309 days, Victor Wembanyama went back to a post from 2020 and responded to one of his critics who at the time claimed that Wemby would never be a dominant force in the NBA.

A user commented “he not gone do none of that in the NBA” on an October 21, 2020 Instagram post from NBA In Depth. Wemby waited until this past weekend to slide in there and respond with a simple “Why not?”

There is now a flood of new comments on that post from October 2020. The original poster found humor in his years-old post getting bookmarked by Victor Wembanyama himself and how a simple comment has made its way to ESPN and SportsCenter:

There’s something incredibly endearing about a petty athlete when they’re not just sitting around doing it 24/7/365 like some NBA players (you know who I’m talking about). This was a well orchestrated response from Wemby and it shows that he’s got a sense of humor, something he’ll desperately need if his team finishes 2nd to last in the West again next season.
