Viktor Hovland was the unfortunate target of defecation during his opening round at The Open. While lining up a shot from the fairway, a bird pooped on Hovland’s arm forcing him to step back from his ball.
Not only was the hilarious moment caught on camera, but the golfer’s reaction was captured by a hot mic on the links.
On a course full of hazards, Hovland dealt with an unexpected distraction.
“What was that?” Hovland asked after feeling the dropping hit his right arm. “I just got s— on!” he then exclaimed.

In the video, you can actually see the bird flying away from the scene like a jet that’s just dropped a bomb in battle.
The reaction from Hovland sparked an immediate response from the golf world on social media.
“Hovland was the perfect player to have this happen to,” this fan wrote.
“The seagulls are making their presence known at The Open,” another tweet read.
“This bird was not a fan of Viktor Hovland,” someone else said.
He didn’t let the incident distract him too much from the mission. In what’s been an impossible course to play at Royal Liverpool, Hovland finds himself in the mix.
At the time of this writing, he sits at -1 and in a tie for 17th place.
