Former WWE employee Janel Grant, who is suing Vince McMahon, former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis, and WWE, claims the new Netflix documentary, Mr. McMahon, underplays the former wrestling kingpin’s “criminal behavior.”
Grant, who worked in the WWE talent relations and legal department, made a a series of very alarming accusations in a sexual misconduct lawsuit she filed against McMahon and Laurinaitis (who is also the stepfather to the Bella Twins).
Following the release of the Mr. McMahon documentary series on Netflix, Janel Grant’s attorney Ann Callis issued the following statement:
“The Mr. McMahon docuseries makes it clear there is no difference between Vince McMahon’s on-air persona and his true self, they are one and the same. His ‘character’ – known for violent outbursts, sexual deviance, and manipulation – is the real Vince McMahon and exactly what Janel Grant experienced behind closed doors at WWE for years.
“While the docuseries put McMahon’s obsession with power and control on full display, it only scratches the surface of his criminal behavior and it fails to tell the full story of his abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking of Ms. Grant. She deserves the opportunity to tell her story, on her own time, and in her own way. We look forward to her day in court and to seeing McMahon at last held accountable for his actions.”
Janel Grant has claimed in the lawsuit that she was employed “in a completely undefined role, except for the understanding that she remain a sexual slave to be used and trafficked by McMahon within the WWE.”
Her accusations along with others led to a federal investigation and put an end to Vince McMahon’s reign over WWE.
Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon is currently on hold at the request of the United States Department of Justice while they continue their investigation into her and other allegations against the former WWE honcho.
“Ms. Grant has consented to a request by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York to stay her case against Mr. McMahon, WWE and Mr. Laurinaitis, pursuant to a pending non-public investigation,” Grant’s lawyer said in a previous statement. “We will cooperate with all appropriate next steps.”
