Former Ole Miss quarterback Walker Howard will be back in Oxford next fall. He announced his decision to return to the program on Wednesday.
Howard spent last season at Louisiana after transferring away from the Rebels in 2024. His exit was of high interest given his relationship with Lane Kiffin.
Who is Walker Howard?
The newest Ole Miss addition was once tabbed a five-star talent. He initially signed with LSU out of high school but left Baton Rouge after one year in a reserve role.
Howard was ranked as the fifth-best quarterback in his high school class. A Louisiana native, he was considered a big get for Brian Kelly and the Tigers at the time of his signing.
It didn’t work out with LSU. He transferred to Ole Miss a season later. Unfortunately, he remained buried on the depth chart.
In Oxford, Howard competed in four games throwing six passes. He left the Rebels for Louisiana in search of more playing time and a return home.
With the Ragin’ Cajuns, the quarterback saw action in six contests. He completed 18-of-41 attempts for 155 yards and three picks. He entered the transfer portal for a third time after his junior year.
This will be Howard’s third season at Ole Miss. In his first stint, he was better known for off-field narratives than on-field play.
Howard dated Lane Kiffin’s daughter.
Howard played two seasons under the head coach. In that time, he supposedly had a relationship with Kiffin’s daughter, Landry.
Social media history links the duo back a few months at least, with the couple recently spending Howard’s 21st birthday together. He’s often been spotted in her comments section on Instagram, though it’s not clear if they’re still together.

That relationship is believed to have lasted at least a few months despite Lane Kiffin’s noted dating restriction. It is not clear if it continued after Howard left Oxford via the transfer portal.
Much has changed in the time that’s passed.
Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU, bailing on the Rebels ahead of their first ever College Football Playoff appearance. Landry Kiffin is dating Tigers linebacker Whit Weeks.
Walker Howard, meanwhile, has also moved on. He is happily engaged as of December 2025.
Howard will run it back with the Rebels in 2026. This time, he’ll do so without Lane Kiffin.
