Xander Schauffele, the #3 ranked golfer in the world and a 2-time Major Championship winner in 2024 who would have locked up Player of the Year on any other year if it wasn’t for Scottie Scheffler’s historic season, has launched the Xander Schauffele App. The app will feature all of his ‘new gear and outfits’ as well as ‘exclusive behind-the-scenes content’ and more.
Naturally, golf fans met this news with eagerness and sincerity and rushed to download the app by the millions, right?!? Absolutely not. The Xander Schauffele App announcement got roasted on X (née Twitter) by Xander’s followers.
This is all eerily reminiscent of August 2019 when Marvel actor Jeremy Renner launched the ‘Jeremy Renner App‘ which blew up in popularity because it had been overtaken by trolls. While the Xander Schauffele App hasn’t had enough time to be overtaken by trolls, the reception has been equally hilarious.

In the video, which appears to have been filmed with a 2018 iPhone inside a room with no lights, the world’s #3 golfer says “hey everyone, Xander Schauffele here. I’ve got something exciting to announce. We’ve just launched an app that brings you even closer to everything happening in my world.”
Xander continued, saying “with this app, you will get exclusive access to official merchandise from sponsors, limited-edition memorabilia, and additional content that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s all in one place… Gear, signed items, and special moments I’m excited to share with you. This is my way of staying connected with the incredible fans who have been with me every step of the way. The app is available now in the App Store and Google Play so go ahead and download it today.”
To be a little pedantic here, I’ve read through thousands of press releases in my life and seen countless company/feature/product launches. Whoever wrote the script he was reading to announce the Xander Schauffele App wrote it like a press release and there was nothing natural about it whatsoever. Xander did smile through the read but it felt extremely robotic. They should have just let him say what was on his mind and edited together a few clips, that’s my two cents. And at the very least, included some footage or screenshots of the ‘exclusive content’ golf fans can expect…

(1) I’m glad to see someone mention that he should’ve ‘practiced the pitch’ a little more and I’m not alone in that and (2) for Xander’s sake I hope this works out for him. It is odd he hasn’t opted to chase YouTube followers or beef up his Instagram presence where he only has 500K followers and posts strictly work-related clips and nothing from his personal life… By all appearance, Xander is not a poster.
