The Yankees are off to an MLB-best 40-15 start through the first two months of the season. New York is 4.5 games up on the next closest team in the American League, and they’re seven games up in the AL East over the Toronto Blue Jays.
The team has been dominant on both sides of the ball, leading the league in both home runs hit and team ERA. And they’ve been playing their best ball over the last week.
Is it coincidence that it’s lined up with former Yankees star Derek Jeter’s having joined Twitter? I think not.
Jeter joined the social media universe on May 31. The Yankees welcomed No. 2 with a post of their own.
Hey Yankees Fans! Let's welcome #TheCaptain to Twitter! @derekjeter 👊 pic.twitter.com/VqaomxaEu5

Since then, the team has reeled off seven straight wins, posting a perfect 7-0 mark over the last week. The winning streak has helped elevate them to being the top team in baseball, having previously trailed the Dodgers for that honor.
Jeter seems to be New York’s good luck charm as the franchise looks to win its first World Series title since 2009.
Derek Jeter has been VERY active on Twitter over the last week
The Captain has been very active since joining Twitter in late May. He’s gone back and forth with former teammates, posted videos of his family, and of course, interacted with #YankeesTwitter.
I was just reminded I was named Captain on this day in 2003. Remember it just like yesterday when The Boss called me and I thought I was in trouble… glad I was wrong haha.
