Jim Carrey Left A Monster Tip For A Waitress At An NYC Restaurant

It’s always interesting to hear about how multi-millionaire celebrities act when the only thing they have to gain is the benefit of doing a good deed. When the cameras aren’t rolling or there isn’t a movie to be plugged, are celebs like Steve Carrell really as nice as he makes us believe or is he the kind of dude who yells at his cleaning lady?

That’s why it was awesome to hear that Jim Carrey, one of my favorite actors of all-time, tipped like a champ at an NYC restaurant.

According to MSN, the 53-year-old Carrey left a $225 dollar tip for his waitress at Chester restaurant at the Gansevoort Hotel in New York City’s meatpacking district. The total bill was $151. So for those scoring at home, that’s a 149% tip.

A source told the New York Post that “everyone seemed to be in good spirits” as Carrey and a couple friends dined on lemon chicken and quinoa dishes, a bottle of pinot noir, and sparkling wine.

Carrey’s bro deed is a far cry from celebrities like Bill Cosby, who once allegedly left a $3 tip on a $350 bill. Or Jeremy Piven who reportedly left Season one of Entourage as a tip for the waiter. Or myself, who left my number for a waitress at Outback Steakhouse. She should be calling any day now. It’s been six years.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
