J.J. Watt suffered a tibial plateau fracture during the Texan’s Sunday night game against the Chiefs. The injury is going to sideline Watt for the rest of the season. This morning, Watt took to Twitter to express his utter devastation.
I can't sugarcoat it, I am devastated.
All I want to do is be out there on that field for my teammates and this city.
I'm sorry.— JJ Watt (@JJWatt) October 9, 2017
As hard as an injury like this is to take, it stings a lot more this year when you consider all that the city of Houston is going through and all that J.J. Watt has done to help with the recovery efforts. Upon seeing this Tweet, the fans came out in droves to show their support.
You sir are a stand up citizen and a hero in my eyes! There is no player that can come close to the person you are! Please do not apologize

A guy who has done what you have for your city shouldn’t even have “Sorry” in their vocabulary. All the best for the rehab! 🤞🏻

No apology needed, this city, your teammates, the entire NFL…we all know how bad this hurts…take a few min to grieve then get up & fight
