Katie Ledecky is by far and away the breakout star of the 2016 Olympics. Everything she did was must-see television. I’ll readily admit that I cancelled plans and put off professional obligations just to make sure that I didn’t miss Ledecky slicing her way through the pool and filling her opponents mouths with bubbles. Thankfully, it looks like Ledecky’ streak of dominating all forms of media hasn’t ended since she made Bryce Harper hold all of her Olympic medals last night while she threw out the first pitch at the Nationals game. Personal thoughts on Harper aside, it’s hard to deny that he’s one of the more recognizable faces in professional baseball. And Ledecky turned him into a trophy case and got him to smile about it. Only a true champion can convince a guy to hold all her shit and make him feel like she’s doing him a favor.
