New York Giants Quarterback Daniel Jones Reportedly Switches Agents In Hopes Of Landing Massive Contract

Sometimes being an NFL quarterback isn’t necessarily about being good all the time but rather being good at the right times.

Take, for instance, New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

The Giants selected Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Duke University. Notably, the Buffalo Bills selected Josh Allen one spot later.

Jones’ rookie year was actually encouraging. While he went just 3-9 in 12 starts, he threw for 3,027 yards, 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also surprised many by rushing for 279 yards and two touchdowns.

But regression his hard in the following two seasons. Jones threw for under 3,000 yards in each of the next two seasons and combined for just 21 touchdowns compared to 17 interceptions.

That led the Giants to decline Jones’ fifth-year rookie options/

Jones, however, was not deterred. It’s amazing what a new coach and a healthy Saquon Barkley can do for a quarterback’s confidence. New York’s signal caller threw for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions in 16 starts this past season. He also ran for a carer-high 708 yards and seven touchdowns.

Now he’s reportedly on the verge of signing a massive new deal in New York.

Daniel Jones Changes Agent Prior To Signing New Deal With New York Giants

But Daniel Jones ain’t no sucker. He knows this is probably his best, and maybe only chance to get a huge payday. So now ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports the 25-year-old is changing agents prior to signing a new deal.

Jones has been represented by CAA since being the sixth overall draft pick out of Duke in 2019. The expectation, according to the sources, is that he will join Athletes First in search of a long-term deal.

Raanan also reports that Jones could be franchise tagged if he does not agree to a long-term deal prior to March 7. The franchise tag number for quarterbacks in 2023 currently sits at $32.4 million.

But Jones is reportedly seeking more than $10M more than that. Whether he gets anywhere near that asking price remains to be seen.
