Jones wants possibly as much as $45 million per year, or more, source said.

Considering that Daniel Jones’s career has been mostly up and down coming into the 2022 season, that’s high demands for the 4-year passer.

$45 million per year is a very significant sum for an NFL quarterback.

While It’s not uncommon for professional athletes to seek high salaries and it’s possible that Jones or his representatives may negotiate a large contract in the future. It’s important to keep in mind that contract negotiations can be complex and involve multiple factors, such as the player’s performance, team needs, and the overall market for players at the position.

The Giants Could Franchise Tag Jones

The franchise tag number for quarterbacks in 2023 is $32.4 million.

Tagging him for the 1-year franchise tag deal will allow the Giants more time to see Jones playing at a high level constantly.

If he proves he can continue to improve like in 2022, it would make more sense then to give him the big long-term contract he desires.

Ultimately, whether Jones’ demand for $45 million per year would be met would depend on a variety of factors, and negotiations between Jones and the Giants would likely be complex and involve significant give and take on both sides.
