Central Michigan University Student Killed While Saving Classmate From Speeding Car

The world needs more heroes because one of them was tragically taken away this weekend.

Ryan Tsatsos, a freshmen at Central Michigan University was killed in a hit-and-run accident near campus on Sunday. A car traveling at an insane rate of speed was about to hit one of Tsatsos female classmates. The young man pulled her to safety but was unable to avoid the car.

He was struck by the hit-and-run driver who was going as much as 80 mph. The force sent Tsatsos flying almost 30 feet and into a ditch. The car sped away before any of his friends could get a good look at the vehicle or the the driver. A classmate walking with Tsatso is studying to be a nurse helped until emergency crews arrived but it wasn’t enough to keep him alive.

This is the second tragedy this year for the family. Ryan’s older brother was killed in a car accident over the summer.

Friends of Ryan Tsatsos have since created a GoFundMe account to raise money for his family.

“The outpouring of love and support is so touching,” his mother Julie told Fox 2 Detroit. “To know that people care and that he touched so many people’s lives.”

Police are still looking for a dark-colored, older model four door car with damage to the front end. If you’ve got any information, please contact the Macomb County Police Department.

EDITOR’S NOTE: After putting this article on FB, a cousin of Ryan’s came forward to share even more of this story about Ryan and his brother Daryl. “This is my cousin. Big fan of you guys. Thank you for sharing this. This kid is a hero, saving a girl’s life. His brother who was killed in a car accident, just three months ago, was able to donate his organs and saved the lives of 22 people. These two, even at a young age, did things one would never even think of. Once again, thank you for sharing. It means a lot.
