Psycho Girlfriend Ends Career Of FIU Star Tight End Jonnu Smith After Pouring Boiling Water On His Head During Argument

Jonnu Smith was Florida International University’s best football player. According to the Miami Herald, the senior was projected to be either a late round pick or undrafted free agent at the tight end position in the 2017 NFL Draft. He made the midseason John Mackey Award, which coins the Best College Tight End in college football, watch list in 2014 and 2015 and the preseason Mackey Award watch list in 2015 and 2016.

But thanks to a mentally fragile girlfriend, 6-3, 232-pound Smith will never wear and FIU uniform again and his future chances in the NFL have likely been negatively affected after a reckless Halloween night. Smith’s girlfriend, who is five months pregnant with his child, became increasingly enraged that he wasn’t giving her enough attention that night and ended up dousing him with a pot of boiling water.

Per the Miami Herald,

According to the arrest affidavit, Smith suffered severe burns on his head, neck, back, a shoulder and an arm.

Miami Gardens resident Mary Gaspar, five months pregnant with Smith’s child, was charged with aggravated battery. Gaspar has been released on a pre-trial release order.

The two argued through the day over the attention Smith was paying her and their relationship. While in Smith’s dorm room and “feeling extremely emotional and stressed,” she told police, she boiled a pot of water. Then, she walked over to Smith and poured it on him.

When Smith didn’t react strongly enough for her, she started hitting him with her open hands, she told police.

The extent of the burns aren’t known, but Smith has been seen back on campus even though he’s not fit for the football field.

Smith will end his career with FIU fifth in career receptions (175), career receiving yards (1,936) and third in touchdown catches (17).

Reason 239,618 to not have a girlfriend in college: she could end your Division I football career with a pot of boiling water. Reason 1: having a girlfriend in college is like just eating the cornbread at a buffet.

Regardless, hopefully Jonnu has a quick recovery and best of luck to him going forward.

Try lifting dude. Just one time.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
