$167 million Powerball winner James Farthing from Kentucky is back in the news for his fifth arrest since hitting the jackpot in April 2025.
Farthing’s tale is certainly unique. On April 26, 2025, Farthing won a $167.3 million prize after purchasing a $2 Powerball ticket from Clark’s Pump N Shop in Georgetown, Kentucky.
One day after posing with his giant check for the Kentucky Lottery, he was arrested in Pinellas County, Florida, for allegedly kicking a cop in the face at a bar. Not only that, his then-girlfriend Jacqueline Fightmaster (yes, that is her real name), who also posed in the photo with the giant Powerball check, was also arrested for allegedly trying to fight customers at the same bar.
Then, in March of this year, security footage allegedly showed Farthing breaking into a Lexington, Kentucky, home, leading to his arrest on charges of second-degree burglary and marijuana possession. Farthing allegedly drove off in a black Porsche before the police arrived at the scene.
Police ended up finding Farthing in the Red Mile Gaming parking lot. Officers reported finding a marijuana blunt and additional weed in his car while they arrested him.
The Powerball winner had previously been convicted of numerous charges, including theft, receiving stolen property, escape, drug trafficking, promoting contraband, tampering with physical evidence, and engaging in an organized criminal syndicate.
Police also reportedly arrested him in February 2026 and charged him with intimidating a participant in the legal process.
Winning tens of millions in the Powerball apparently hasn’t had a positive effect
Now, according to WHAS News, on Sunday morning, police arrested James Farthing yet again after he allegedly got into an altercation with a woman.
According to the warrant, the woman told police that after returning from a boating trip, she and Farthing got into a fight at his Scott County home.
The woman claimed that when Farthing placed both of his hands on her neck, it became physical, and she was unable to breathe. The victim, police claimed, had visible welts on her neck.
Officers charged him with assault (domestic violence) and strangulation (domestic violence).
So he can now add those charges to his March 2026 arrest, his February 2026 arrest, and a November 2025 indictment for hit-and-run, where authorities charged him with Wanton Endangerment (first degree) and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance.
