70,000 pints of Guinness were stolen from trucks near Liverpool
70,000 pints of Guinness have been stolen in England. The heist wasn’t particularly genius, either, as the thieves simply drove off with the trucks carrying the beloved Irish stout.
Two trailer truckloads of Guinness worth approximately £115,000 ($155,000) were stolen from a depot near Liverpool on Monday night in what Cheshire Constabulary described as a brazen and well-executed operation.

Two drivers pulled up to the Diageo packaging warehouse on Aston Lane in Runcorn, connected to two waiting trailers containing approximately 800 barrels of stout, and drove away. The first truck left at 7:55 p.m. heading toward the Mersey Gateway bridge. The second arrived at 9:12 p.m. and was gone by 9:30 p.m., heading toward Rainhill. The total value of the stolen beer and trailers combined comes to approximately €238,000 (~$276,000).
Detective Sergeant Gary McClatchy of the Cheshire Constabulary provided the quote of the week in announcing the investigation: “It is famously said that ‘Guinness is good for you,’ but that is only the case when it has been bought and paid for. We will settle for nothing less than the full recovery of all the items stolen.”
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the trucks in the Runcorn area Monday evening and have released descriptions of both vehicles — white tri-axle curtain side trailers with GXO Logistics branding, bearing ID numbers DL736 and DL542 on the rear doors.
The massive Guinness heist comes just weeks after about 34,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon that were stolen in Southern California generated significant attention on social media.
“To the thief: we don’t fault you for wanting to brag to your friends how much PBR you have, we just wish you obtained it the honorable way. Pabst is officially starting the clock now – you have exactly 18 days and 44 minutes to return our truckload of beer, no questions asked. Leading up to that time, we will be offering a reward to anyone who can help us solve this mystery,” Pabst wrote on Instagram.
