Actress Selma Blair was arrested on Sunday after allegedly attacking and injuring two flight attendants and trying to open a plane door mid-flight.
According to TMZ, on Sunday’s flight to John F. Kennedy International Airport, the actress attempted to open the airplane door, leading to an altercation with the crew. Blair was taken into custody after reportedly biting and assaulting flight attendants on the Delta Airlines plane.
Dispatch audio from the incident has been released
According to dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, officials asked for medical professionals at the gate following reports of minor injuries, such as a bloody nose and bite marks. Law enforcement was waiting when the plane landed, according to the audio. Selma Blair allegedly struck her head against a bulkhead during the incident.
Two flight attendants reported injuries, and one was transported to the hospital, according to the New York Port Authority. Blair was detained and brought to a hospital for assessment. The FBI is reportedly investigating the incident.
“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first,” a Delta spokesperson told Page Six in a statement.
A representative for Selma Blair told TMZ, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
Selma Blair has had previous issues with biting and causing chaos on flights
According to Page Six, Selma Blair admitted to biting Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, and Seth MacFarlane in her 2022 novel, Mean Baby: A novel of Growing Up.
Blair said she bit Miller in 2006 when the two women met for the first time.
“So, I grabbed her arm and bit it, playfully, as if it were an apple,” she wrote. “Even as I held her forearm in my mouth I was aghast at myself. I thought, What have I gotten myself into? Or her? This is horrible behavior.”
She also bit MacFarlane during their first meeting.
“I was starstruck,” she wrote. “What do I do in public situations where I admire someone, but feel as if I don’t bring anything to the party? I bit him on the hand. ‘Whoa!’ he yelled. ‘That really hurt.’”
When she bit Kate Moss, the model laughed, so she did it again.
“The second time, she did not laugh and exclaimed, ‘That really f—— hurt!’ The Calvin Klein model then punched Blair in the back and grabbed the actress’ thumb,” Blair wrote.
Selma Blair had to be removed from a 2016 flight on a stretcher after causing a scene
In 2016, Selma Blair was removed from a Delta airplane on a stretcher after an incident while on a flight from Cancun, Mexico to Los Angeles. She was reportedly crying and making several bizarre statements.
In that case, TMZ reported that the pilot radioed ahead to alert the tower that a passenger had been combining booze and medication. Medical personnel boarded the aircraft and removed Blair on a stretcher as soon as it landed.
Blair later told Vanity Fair, “I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret. My son was with his Dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace. I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”
