Arguably, boomers blame “wokeness” for a lot of the world’s problems. But, as one flight attendant discovered, this crusade over what is and isn’t “woke” has even extended to… airplane food?
In the viral TikTok, which has garnered 229,500 views, flight attendant Odion (@bodacious_bobo) shared this tale of bizarre customer behavior. She described how she was working the flight, taking care of business class and first class. Once the plane took off, she started asking passengers if they wanted to eat—but one passenger’s answer was definitely a surprise. He complained that everything on the menu was too “woke.” The menu in question included salad, pasta, chicken, and pork.
The Woke Crusade Continues
The customer was similarly unenthusiastic about dessert when asked. He complained that he couldn’t tell what flavor gelato it was, to which Odion said vanilla. He then asked what happened to the food he grew up with. Specifically, the customer started talking about burgers, fries, and milkshakes—which, apparently, are non-woke.
After finishing meal service, Odion’s job is to walk around with snacks. She was with her colleague, who is Egyptian. The customer was going to the bathroom, and the snacks were right there. Once again, the passenger began to rant about woke meals and snack and asked again where the food he supposedly grew up with had gone.
At this point the TikToker said she pointed to the goldfish on a tray of snacks on the plane, but the passenger said they were baked. Her co-worker then asked the customer about what non-woke snacks actually were, and he reiterated burgers and fries along with sandwiches.
Eventually, as Odion repeated that this was all they had, the customer sat down. After asking viewers to guess what state she was flying to, she noted the irony of the customer using a seatbelt extender. “The fact that there are seatbelt extenders readily available for you on every aircraft is the textbook definition of woke, which is like accommodating, and they cater to different people,” she said.
Later, as she closed the video, she sighed and said: “Yeah, I love my job.”
As previously reported by BroBible, one 2024 study found that so-called woke people are more depressed. But given this customer’s miserable reaction, it may well be the other way around.

What Did Commenters Say?
Commenters were baffled. “Since when did airplane food include burgers, fries and milkshakes?!” one asked.
“What does that even mean?” a second queried.
“I’ve been flying my whole life , I’m Gen X, there has never been burgers, fries, and shake on a plane,” a third added.
“‘The food I grew up with’ what like Hamburger Helper?” a fourth quipped.
While a fifth posited: “You know how you learn a new word and then you start using it everywhere even if it doesn’t apply?”
Also in the comments, Odion clarified that the passenger was flying to Florida and that there were also Biscoff cookies—a decidedly unwoke snack.
Are Sandwiches ‘Woke,’ Too?
Over in the U.K., there’s even more of a culture war surrounding food. Back in 2024, bread manufacturer Allison’s launched its Great British Sandwich Study. In the survey, it was revealed that 31% of Gen Z sandwich-lovers preferred chicken over meats like ham. Only 1 in 100 Gen Z reportedly went for traditional sandwich sauces like mustard. Meanwhile, cheddar cheese also appeared to be on the decline for the younger generation. Just over half (52%) of Gen Zers say that it was their favorite sandwich cheese.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail notes that the survey shows a growing trend of what the outlet describes as “fancy” sandwich fillings like avocado, peppers, chilies, and olives. According to the survey, more than a third (35%) of Gen Zers preferred these fillings compared to just a tenth (10%) of boomers.
Based on this survey data, the Daily Mail appeared to conclude that sandwiches had gone “woke,” with the headline reading, “Now Gen Z are waging war on our sandwiches! How younger Brits are ditching English classics like ham and mustard in [favor] of fancy woke fillings.”
