Finding a dead mouse in a soda can should be the kind of event that never happens.
Yet, multiple Alani Nu customers keep coming forward with similar claims.
In 2024, three separate Alani Nu customers went viral after claiming they found dead mice inside their cans, with one case posted in April, another in October, and a third in December. Now, a South Carolina woman says the same happened to her.
In a viral TikTok video that has garnered over 2.9 million views, a shocked TikTok creator, Chandler Manusky (@chandlermanusky), shows the unsettling discovery.
What Did She Find Inside Her Alani Nu Can?
“I don’t even know where to start,” Manusky begins. “We’re just gonna rip the band-aid off. Found a dead mouse at the bottom of my Alani can.”
She says she was drinking from a standard can with a small opening for drinking, which would’ve made it difficult for a mouse to get in there after she opened it.
Manusky explains she drank “three-fourths of it” and started pouring the rest down her sink when she noticed it was heavier than an empty can.
“I’m like, ‘Why does it feel like there’s still so much in it?’” she recounts. “It’s so heavy.”
Then she realized there was something else inside, “I feel a little thud,” she says.
Manusky then shows the camera what she’s talking about. Inside the bottom half of the Alani Nu Pink Slush can, which she cut open, is what appears to be a small rodent.
“I’m disgusted by myself,” she says. “I’m gonna go throw up in the bathroom, I’m, like, shaking.”
Manusky tagged the brand in the caption, writing, “I’m never recovering from this @Alani Nutrition you have some explaining to do…I don’t like MICE in my drinks.”
Have Mice Been Found In Other Soda Cans?
It is rare, but it has happened before. In 2017, a South Dakota man allegedly found a mouse in a Coca-Cola can, though the defense attorney argued the mouse would’ve been in a more advanced stage of decomposition if it had been inside the can before it was opened.
Another infamous case happened in 2012, when a man claimed he found a mouse in his Mountain Dew can. In that case, PepsiCo argued that the drink would have dissolved the mouse completely if it had entered the can before sealing.
No one is quite sure how incidents like this happen. Some believe the animal may make its way inside the can just before it is sealed during the manufacturing process.
Commenters Are Shocked It Happened Again
“WHY IS EVERYONE FINDING MICE IN THEIR ALANI CANS????” one user asked.
“Why is this like the 10th time I’ve seen this happen with alanis,” another questioned.
A third commenter offered advice. “Hey girl I used to work in the CSD industry,” they suggested. “Please contact the FDA and submit a consumer complaint WITH THE FDA NOT WITH ALANI THEMSELVES. They will do an unannounced audit and decide what corrective action needs to take place.”
“Girl, sue everyone including me omg,” a fourth joked.
“I JUST CALLED POSION CONTROL,” Manusky updated in the comments.
