  • Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed on the set of Rust on October 21.
  • The 42-year-old died due to a gunshot wound she sustained on set.
  • The gun was reportedly fired by Alec Baldwin, but the actor is now saying that he “would never pull the trigger” at someone.

During a recent interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, Alec Baldwin — who reportedly fired the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins — said that he would “never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them.”

The interview marks the first time that Baldwin has done an interview in regards to Hutchins’ death, which happened on the set of the Western film Rust — which Baldwin was also a producer on — on October 21.

“I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them, never,” Baldwin told ABC.

“Someone put a live bullet in a gun, a bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property,” he added.

“I think back and I think of what could I have done?” Baldwin said. “She was someone who was loved by everyone who worked with [her] and liked by everyone who worked with [her], and admired… I mean, even now I find it hard to believe that [she’s gone]. It doesn’t seem real to me.”

Earlier this week, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office issued a new search warrant detailing that investigators may have figured out how “live” bullet made its way into the set of Rust.

Longtime Hollywood armorer Thell Reed, the father of the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, said in a statement to investigators that ammunition once in his possession “may match the ammunition found on the set of Rust,” according to a search warrant issued Tuesday by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office as part of the ongoing investigation. At this time, the investigation into Hutchins’ death continues.
