A West Virginia-based Amazon delivery worker shares a way you can give $5 to your driver without spending a penny of your own money. She tells customers how to do it in the app after they receive their package.
In a viral TikTok video with over 1.9 million views, TikToker Casey (@ctitlow) wears a blue Amazon vest and sits in the driver’s seat of a delivery van.
“If you shop here and get deliveries often, they are giving us $5 to each driver per customer ‘thank you,’ up to $2 million,” she shares. “Please thank your driver.”
However, it isn’t as simple as running out the door and yelling a quick thank you down the driveway. Here’s how to make sure Amazon drivers get their $5 award.
How To Properly ‘Thank’ Your Amazon Driver
Starting on Dec. 3, Amazon customers have the option to click “Thank My Driver” in the app or on the website after their package is delivered. Shoppers can also get their Amazon Alexa to trigger the thank you.
This prompts the company to send $5 to the Amazon driver who completed the delivery. Amazon is footing the bill for $2 million in “thank yous” to drivers at no cost to customers.
Amazon customers can send one thank you per delivery, according to the retailer’s website.
In addition to receiving $5 per thank-you, the 1,000 delivery drivers who receive the most thank-yous each day will receive an additional $100.
This is Amazon’s fourth consecutive year offering the thank-you incentives to drivers. In a comment, Casey shares that she earned a few hundred extra dollars from the program last holiday season.
What Do Shoppers And Drivers Think Of The Program?
In the comments, Amazon shoppers say they’ll be thanking all of their drivers this month.
“I’ll be real, I didn’t even know that was an option! I’ll be thanking all my drivers from now on!” one wrote.
Another said, “I had a delivery a couple of hours ago in the snow, I went and did this to show my appreciation.”
“I never knew this! I just did it for a package I received yesterday and will do it again today for the package I’m getting!” a third added.
A fourth commented, “It’s so deserved, and I would imagine it’s so nice to get the extra right before the holidays.”
The extra cash can make a major difference for some drivers during the holiday season. On the r/AmazonDSPDrivers subreddit, Amazon drivers shared how much they got from the program in previous years.
“It’s extra money on our paycheck, there is a limit, but last year I made an extra 200 from it!” one shared.
A second said, “I think I made 30 bucks last year and that even got taxed lol.”
