Amazon Shipped Over 1 Billion Items Worldwide This Holiday Season, Here Are The Most Purchased Items Of All

Over 1 billion items were shipped worldwide with Amazon Prime this holiday season, marking its best ever holiday season in its 20+ year existence. Amazon’s smashing holiday success this year can be directly correlated to what an expert deems a ‘post-election surge in optimism,’ according to Daily Mail. Consumer confidence was the highest its been in 15 years, particularly among older Americans.

Monday, December 19 was reportedly the biggest shopping day of the year for the online retailer, a day that played a huge role in Amazon shares spiking 1.4 per cent at $771.24 in morning trading.

The most purchased items on the website were as follows, per Daily Mail.

The Amazon Echo home assistant ($179.99) and its smaller version, Echo Dot ($49.99), topped the best-sellers list. Other best sellers on Amazon included 72-pack Keurig K-Cups, the movie ‘Finding Dory’, Samsung’s Gear VR virtual reality headset and Nintendo’s Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon video games.

While Amazon traditionally hasn’t been one to delve into exact figures, it did state that the Echo Dot was the best-selling and most gifted item on its website. The company also revealed that Echo product sales were up over nine times compared to last year’s holiday season.
