Antonio Brown crudely called pop star Lizzo a beached whale in a Twitter post just days after the plus-sized pop star spoke out about being body-shamed.

Reposting a video of a baby humpback whale being rescued by nearby onlookers, Brown captioned the post saying “Lizzo spotted on Clearwater Beach.”

In late March, a stranded young whale died after it was found about 30 feet offshore in Clearwater, Florida.

Earlier this month, Lizzo took to Instagram to speak out about being body-shamed and spoken negatively of, ending her post with the caption “I QUIT”, leading people to speculate that she meant she was quitting the music industry.

Lizzo would later clarify she meant she is quitting “giving any negative energy attention.”

“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet,” Lizzo wrote in the initial IG post.

“All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it. I QUIT.”

Last year, Lizzo was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performace, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year — winning the latter — for her hit single “About Damn Time”.

Similarly, in 2020, she was nominated in those same three categories for her song “Truth Hurts”, winning for Best Pop Solo Performance.

Lizzo’s successes have come with controversies, however, particularly following a pair of workplace environment allegations in the summer of 2023 that seemingly contradict Lizzo’s public image of being about body positivity.

Three of her former dancers, including two who competed on the television show, filed a lawsuit in August 2023 accusing Lizzo of creating a hostile work environment.

In September 2023, a former wardrobe designer who had worked briefly on Lizzo’s 2023 tour before being dismissed filed a lawsuit asserting that the tour’s wardrobe manager had created a hostile work environment. [via New York Times]

As for Brown — who has been a walking controversy for half a decade now — the former NFL wide receiver has spent recent months trolling celebrities on Twitter.
