Anya Taylor-Joy’s Entire Body Is Covered In Gold In First Look At ‘Mad Max’ Prequel ‘Furiosa’

Ahead of its upcoming panel at the Brazilian fan expo CCXP, the first look at Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa in George Miller’s upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel has hit the internet.

Taylor-Joy takes over the role from Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, who starred as the character in the 2015 modern classic Mad Max: Fury Road.

In addition to the first look at Taylor-Joy as Furiosa, which you can find below, the first teaser trailer for the film is also expected to be released this week.

Here is the official plot synopsis for Furiosa:

As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe.

While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.

Furiosa is just the latest project massive project for Taylor-Joy, who has become one of the biggest up-and-coming actresses in Hollywood in recent years, having starred in films such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie, The Menu, The Nortman, Last Night In Soho, and more.

In addition to Taylor-Joy, Furiosa also features Marvel Cinematic Universe star Chris Hemsworth, who is reportedly playing the film’s villain.

While Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was also set to star in the film, he had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Tom Burke. Additional cast members include Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson, and Quaden Bayles in supporting roles.

Furiosa, which will be the fifth film in Miller’s Mad Max franchise, is scheduled to hit movie theaters in the United States on Friday, May 24, 2024.
