On Thursday, California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a state order mandating all California residents to wear masks or face coverings in public spaces when social distancing.
This order includes indoor and outdoor settings.
The mandate comes one week after Orange County reversed a mask requirement when threats of violence over the mandate forced the county public health officer to step down.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, former governor of California, 100% agrees with this decision and had some harsh words for people who don’t wear face masks due to political reasons.
“This will help us beat this terrible virus,” tweeted Schwarzenegger. “The science is unanimous – if we all wear masks, we slow down the spread and can reopen safely.”
Schwarzenegger was the state’s governor from 2003 to 2011.
Schwarzenegger went on to say that “It’s not a political issue” and that “anyone making it a political issue is an absolute moron who can’t read.”

Schwarzenegger has been a vocal proponent of coronavirus safety efforts since the onset of the pandemic.
In an Instagram post in March, Schwarzenegger implored people to “Listen to the experts, ignore the morons (foreheads). We will get through this together.”
He also asked people to “stay at home as much as possible.”
Schwarzenegger also donated $1 million to a Frontline Responders campaign aimed at “combating the shortage of masks, gowns, gloves and other critical supplies to protect our medical professionals” fighting against COVID-19.
