The Trailer For The Fifth Season Of ‘Arrested Development’ Is Here And We Have A Release Date

Being part of a dysfunctional family is practically a requirement for the characters on every sitcom, but no one’s been able to do it better than Arrested Development. The series might not have been given the appreciation it deserved when it originally aired on Fox, but it’s now rightfully considered one of the funniest (and smartest) television shows ever made.

Arrested Development was eventually picked back up by Netflix for a divisive fourth season that strayed away from the formula that made it so beloved in the first place— a misstep show creator Mitch Hurwitz corrected last week before a “remixed” version of the season was released on Friday that’s been met pretty positively based on some of the reactions I’ve seen.

However, the most exciting part of last week’s announcement was the reveal that a fifth season was dropping “real soon— and it looks like Hurwitz is making good on his promise.

On Monday, Netflix released the first official trailer for the fifth season and based on the fact that multiple members of the family are in the same scene on more than one occasion, this newest installation should be a return to form.

I started rewatching the Arrested Development over the weekend to gear up for the upcoming premiere, but it looks like I’m going to have to make a conscious effort to work my way through the series for the seventh time now that Netflix has announced its release date. According to Deadline, the new season will hit the platform on May 29.

I can’t think of a better way to nurse your Memorial Day weekend hangover.
