While Avengers: Endgame was released four months ago, the iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe film is still dominating online discussion, and rightfully so, considering that the film is literally the most successful in the history of the movie business.

And with just about nine months until the release of the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — the Scarlett Johansson-starring Black Widow — fans of the MCU need something to obsess over until then, making Avengers: Endgame the most likely candidate.

Luckily for fans, Disney is doing their best to keep fans engaged with Avengers: Endgame, as the directors of the film — Joe and Anthony Russo — are still giving various interviews about the project, including this latest one with Wired.

Taking questions directly from fans on Twitter, the Avengers: Endgame directors delved into a variety of topics about the film, including why they decided to kill everyone’s favorite Avenger, which Avenger they would want to be, and the “easter egg” in the final battle scene that no one has noticed.

As for the “easter egg” they’re referencing, the Russo Brothers are hinting at the appearance of Nova/Richard Rider, an iconic Marvel Comics character who is a part of the Nova Corps, which is an intergalactic police force that appears in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1.

Although, after ComicBook.com reached out for a comment regarding the bombshell reveal of the easter egg, Joe Russo revealed that they were just kidding.

“That was actually a joke on our part,” Joe Russo said to ComicBook.com via e-mail.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe will resume next May when it kicks off its Phase 4 with the release of Black Widow — which stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Ray Winstone — on May 1, 2020.
