Clearly trying to capitalize on the biggest trend of (*checks notes*) July 2023, a movie studio is making a film literally called Barbenheimer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barbenheimer — which comes from longtime B-movie director Charles Band and his Full Moon production company — features a character named Dr. Bambi J Barbenheimer, who lives in Dolltopia.

An apparently brilliant scientist, Dr. Barbenheimer apparently becomes fed up with how humanity has long treated dolls so they come up with a plan to nuke mankind.

Barbenheimer, selling at the American Film Market with AMP, follows Dr. Bambi J Barbenheimer, a brilliant scientist doll living in Dolltopia, a world of endless summers and beach parties, and her boyfriend Twink Dollman.

“Dr. Barbenheimer, incensed by the brutal treatment the dolls receive at the hands of human children, ventures into the real world where she experiences humanity at its worst and, naturally, decides to build a giant nuclear bomb to take it all out.” [via The Hollywood Reporter]

According to the official synopsis: “They got great looks and a super attitude! Oh, and now they’ve got the bomb.”

“Barbenheimer” is the name that movie fans gave to the simultaneous release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which were both released in movie theaters in the United States on Friday, July 17.

Both films were absolutely massive successes at the box office, as Barbie made over $1 billion en route to becoming the highest-grossing film of 2023, while Oppenheimer has made close to $950 million.

Furthermore, both Barbie and Oppenheimer are expected to be major contenders at next year’s Academy Awards, including in the Best Picture category. Cillian Murphy is also the odds-on favorite to win Best Actor for his work as Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer.

Barbie is currently available to stream and purchase on formats such as Blu-ray and 4K, while Oppenheimer will be available beginning on November 21.
