Barry Keoghan has undergone a cosmetic procedure known as skin-tightening

Barry Keoghan has been open about how abuse about his appearance online has affected his mental health. Keoghan has now confirmed he is getting a skin-tightening treatment.

The Oscar-nominated actor’s facialist, Nilam Holmes, posted a video of Barry Keoghan’s Xerf session on Instagram, confirming the procedure. Xerf is a non-invasive radio-frequency treatment that uses heat to firm skin and boost collagen and does not require the use of any needles.

Barry Keoghan underwent skin-tightening treatment months after he said online abuse over his looks made him withdraw from public events

“I feel better about myself, I look better, and I think it’s important to look after yourself inside and outside,” Keoghan said after the session, adding that the appointments were “very relaxing and therapeutic.”

Holmes, a London-based facialist who has worked with Keoghan on films, campaigns and other projects, said that Keoghan’s “skin has really improved over the last few years and he looks great.”

According to reports, a full-face Xerf session at her clinic costs £2,500, about $3,330, and two sessions run £4,500, or roughly $6,000.

Back in March, Keoghan discussed the criticism of his looks and told SiriusXM’s Ben Harlum that the abuse had changed how he lives.

“It’s made me go inside myself and not want to attend places,” he said.

Keoghan also deactivated his Instagram in December 2024 after receiving messages that “no person should ever have to read” amid his break-up with pop star Sabrina Carpenter.

Keoghan, 34, had starring roles in the films Crime 101, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Butterfly Jam, and Lemonade this year. In 2028, he’s likely to reprise his role as Joker in The Batman: Part II and will be starring as Ringo Starr in Sam Mendes The Beatles biopics.

The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event is set to release over the course of four weeks in April 2028 (one movie about each band member), and also features Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.
