TikTok user Kara Metzger and her fiancé were left red-faced after discovering something shocking about their new bathroom window.

Usually, homeowners fall in love with the house they have bought. However, one couple has gone viral after realizing a key detail that they missed in their bathroom window.

Some might argue that houses are getting worse, with poor builds in particular being an issue. But while these first-time homeowners were delighted with their home, they soon came across an unwelcome surprise.

In the video, which has amassed 7.4 million, Kara Metzger starts by holding her hand to her forehead before panning the camera to their bathroom. While their bathroom looks delightful, Metzger then shows viewers a surprise from the outside. To do this, she shared multiple photos of the window from the outside. These pictures showed that the window was notably translucent. The inside of the bathroom is visible, as is her hand in two of the pictures.

The TikTok is accompanied by foreboding music and on-screen text that read, “POV: My fiance and I realizing that the beautiful rainfall shower in our new house has apparently been a neighborhood attraction.

In a second video, Metzger’s fiancé goes in the bathroom while she films from the outside. His silhouette was clearly visible.

Why Is The Window There?

Commenters were flabbergasted.

“Why on earth would anyone even put a big window right there?” one asked.

“If you think that’s bad have someone stand in there with lights on when it’s dark out…” a second suggested. “I promise it’s much MUCH worse.”

“That window in shower would’ve been the reason I did not sign that lease, why are we putting windows in vulnerable areas!” a third wrote.

While a fourth said, “As a neighbor, I would 100% go tell you the first time I noticed. We need to get a tiny bit more comfortable telling people things they need to know. This is a NEED to know lol.”

Metzger replied, “RIGHT like I’m not actively trying to peep anyone, I just truly hope no one has seen and that’s why no one has said anything.”

How To Fix A See-Through Bathroom Window

In response to a user on Reddit, who wanted to make their home exercise room’s window less visible, the internet came through with suggestions.

“You can get a frosting film that effectively turns the clear glass into frosted glass,” one suggested. “It diffuses the light but doesn’t block it.”

“I just used frosted glass spray paint on the inside of my garage window,” a second shared. “It worked great and will scrape off easily later if needed.”

“Try some bubble wrap,” a third recommended. “The little bubbles seem to work better for blocking vision but still letting in light.”

‘We Were Pretty Mortified’

In an emailed statement to BroBible, Metzger shared some more details about her awkward discovery.

“The only context I’d love to add is that my fiancé and I had just realized our frosted shower window might not actually be as private as we thought, so the video was literally us just testing it and making that discovery ourselves. One of us stood in the shower while the other went outside to see how much you could actually see. We were pretty mortified when we realized how visible the silhouette was!” she said.

“We’re first-time homeowners and just moved in this past month, so this was definitely one of those ‘Well… add that to the list’ moments. We’re already looking into ways to fix it while hopefully keeping the window and all the natural light. I just wanted to make sure it was clear that we were simply testing the window/privacy in the video and that nothing inappropriate was happening!”

@kara.metzger

I’m gagged because I’ve come home from work and showered AT NIGHT with a light on 😭😭 EDIT* the hand was us testing to see if it was see through not something going on, we haven’t had time since moving in a few weeks ago to think about the windows as we’ve been dealing with a family emergency across the country, idk if anyone has actually seen us showering but I’m assuming they have 🤣
