There’s no cryptid that has captured the public’s imagination quite like Bigfoot.
Sasquatch is far from the only large animal of dubious veracity. The Loch Ness monster has remained popular for generations, with sightings reported as recently as this year.
However, there’s something about Bigfoot that makes him stand head and shoulders above his cryptid compatriots—and it’s not just because he’s a massive biped. For decades, people have tried to find and capture footage and imagery of the creature, only to somehow always end up with something shaky and blurry.
Now, there’s a new entrant in that long list of potential Bigfoot encounter clips. Is this the real thing?
What’s Lurking In This Forest?
In a video with over 14.8 million views, TikTok user @blessedatkins explains that, on a recent drive, something strange happened involving his children.
According to the TikToker, while driving, his kids “screamed they saw Bigfoot” and began “freaking out.”
Apparently thinking they were “full of crap,” the TikToker decided to turn around. At that point, he was met with a surprise. In the woods stood a tall, dark, unmoving figure.
“There he is, dude!” the TikToker exclaims as he drives by.
Was It Really Bigfoot?
At first glance, many may be intrigued by this apparent Bigfoot sighting. While the alleged creature isn’t entirely visible, it matches the other claimed images of Bigfoot, such as what can be seen in the famous Patterson–Gimlin film.
But this is where the problem lies. The image of Bigfoot shown in the video looks too similar to known images—and the fact that it’s entirely black with no definable features makes one raise an eyebrow.
What this actually is, it seems, is a wood cutout. Large Bigfoot silhouettes are a relatively common woodworking project, with templates available for purchase online. Bigfoot-themed yard art can also easily be bought across eBay, Amazon, and other online retailers.
It’s exceedingly unlikely that the TikToker actually captured any creature on film, Bigfoot or otherwise. Instead, what he and his children saw was almost surely a simple cutout.
To date, we still have no solid proof that Sasquatch exists—and a fair bit that calls the idea into question.
Commenters Are Divided
In the comments section, some users were convinced that the TikToker had captured something—though they were frustrated that he did not slow down or clean his camera lens before doing so.
“You really tryna tell me that, in 2026, your phone camera has qualify so good that I could count the leaves on any given tree, yet somehow you managed to record specifically JUST BIGFOOT on a 1990s flip phone camera,” wrote a user.
“You know it’s him because he’s mid stride and blurry,” joked a second.
That said, many understood that what was shown in the video was simply a common wood cutout. In fact, many claimed to have seen similar cutouts in the past.
“I’ve also had a few of those shadow cut out figures of Big Foot have me double looking and in a bit of shock,” recalled a user.
“I drive trucks and see these often,” noted another, attaching an image of a piece of wooden Bigfoot plywood art.
So, if you see something like this on the side of the road, you probably haven’t encountered Bigfoot. Still, there’s no harm in taking a picture or two anyway, just to be safe.
