About 2 years ago, there were rumors flying around that actor Bill Murray (74) was dating ‘Milkshake’ singer Kelis (45), the same one whose milkshake brings all the boys to the yard. At the time, Bill Murray didn’t seem like he was in a hurry to deny the rumors that were picked up by countless media outlets.
It wasn’t until a recent appearance on Sway’s Universe that Bill Murray finally came clean on the Kelis rumors…
The Murricane joked about the rumors that he was dating Kelis after they were seen backstage together at both the Mighty Hoopla festival and the Cross The Tracks festival in London, a week apart. In celebrity world, being seen backstage twice in a week with someone is typically a public confirmation that those two are an item but it appears to not be the case here.
Murray told Sway Calloway “I met this girl named Kelis, I got great press that I was dating her, which really raised my cred.” He went on to explain his initial infatuation with Kelis came from seeing her music video.
Bill said “I love that video. I watched that. I kept going, ‘That’s the silliest thing. How did I miss that when it came out in the first place?’ It’s so crazy, and I’m going, ‘Who is the girl with the red hair?’ And it was Kelis, so I just had to meet her sometime. She’s turned out to be spectacular.”
Then to the question of whether or not Bill Murray and Kelis were dating or had ever dated before, he said “No. No, but, you know, one of us could be on the rebound any second.”

Bill was hitting the press circuit pretty hard to promote his new film Riff Raff, which came as a surprise to me had nothing to do with the rapper Riff Raff who we haven’t heard from in a minute.
Looking back at a report from June 8, 2023 on PageSix, it is pretty funny to see how seriously they took these rumors. PageSix reported “Sources close to the pair told the US Sun that they were also seen together at the same hotel and have been “getting close for a while” after first meeting in the US. A friend reportedly told the outlet, “They’ve met up in the States before which got people in the industry talking, and now are meeting up in London while they’re both here. They’ve clearly hit it off.”
