The first official trailer for Black Widow, Scarlette Johansson’s swan song in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Natasha Romanoff, is here!

Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha “finds herself alone and forced to confront her past”, according to the film’s official synopsis.

Black Widow — which stars Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, Rachel Weisz, Ray Winstone, and Olivier Richters — is the 24th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first movie in the franchise’s “Phase 4”.

In addition to the actors above, it’s been rumored that Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark and William Hurt’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross may appear in the film as well.

Following the release of Black Widow, the next film to be released in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is The Eternals, which is set to hit theaters in November 2020. Then, in 2021, Marvel Studios will release four more films, all of which are set in the franchise’s Phase 4: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and a still-untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home.

In addition to the multitude of films, the MCU’s Phase 4 will also unfold on Disney+, as there are going to be four MCU series released on the streaming service in the coming years that tie directly to the franchise’s main narrative: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, and Hawkeye.

Black Widow, which was directed by Cate Shortland, will hit theaters in the United States on Friday, May 1, 2020.
