Brandi Carlile performs as the 2026 Newport Folk Festival
Brandi Carlile has been on an absolute heater throughout her current tour that picks back up in Portland, Maine later this week. Every time she takes the stage social media is flooded with clips of iconic moments from her shows and that all culminated at the 2026 Newport Folk Fest when she broke out her most unhinged cover yet of ‘Uninvited‘ by Alanis Morissette.
Brandi first covered ‘Uninvited’ by Alanis at Red Rocks in Colorado last September and it has been song in the rotation at her live shows since but Carlile took things to another level in Newport by cranking up the intensity.
Brandi Carlile Covers ‘Uninvited’ By Alanis Morissette At 2026 Newport Folk Festival
The Newport Folk Festival is one of the most historic annual music festivals in our great nation. Performers throughout the years have included Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Tom Morello, and the list goes on and on.
When Brandi first busted out her cover of ‘Uninvited’ at Red Rocks it went immediately viral. Videos on TikTok and YouTube racked up millions of views after they were shared by fans in the stands. And the song continued to be a showstopper but at Newport it seemed Brandi was ready to turn things up a notch and this time she released the full song on her official YouTube channel with clear sound compared to the clips filmed by fans in the stands.
Check it out:
Appearing in the 1998 film City of Angels and later on the film’s soundtrack, ‘Uninvited’ was the first recording from Alanis Morissette after her debut Jagged Little Pill. By the time this song was released, Alanis Morissette was already a mega star but this track quickly cemented her place as a titan in the industry.
‘Uninvited’ then went on to win two Grammy Awards for ‘Best Female Rock Vocal Performance’ and ‘Best Rock Song’ but it has lost some of its foothold in pop culture over the years. Can you remember the last time you heard this song on the radio? Even on 90s channel on SiriusXM? I couldn’t tell you for certain that I’ve hearad this song anywhere in the past 15 or so years up until the Brandi Carlile cover at Red Rocks and then Alanis, of course, performed it last Fall in Las Vegas during her mini tour.
Now all that is left is for these two to get together on stage and perform it as a duo. The world needs to see this. If she can perform with Dave Matthews in Newport then surely a promoter somewhere can get Brandi and Alanis on stage together soon, right?
