To the average movie fan, Brendan Gleeson is one of those guys whose name you don’t know, but every time he pops up in something, you immediately get hyped because you know that project just became all the more legit. The man always brings the noise, whether it be playing a warrior in Braveheart, a soldier in Gangs of New York, or a professor in Harry Potter — when Gleeson is involved, you know you’re watching a pro’s pro at work.

So, it goes without saying that I think casting Gleeson — someone with far more dramatic panache than the likes of Alec Baldwin — as Donald Trump is an absolute home run.

Gleeson is set to star as the 45th President of the United States in the upcoming Showtime series The Comey Rule, which stars two-time Emmy winner Jeff Daniels as former FBI director James Comey.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Comey Rule, via Showtime:

The Comey Rule “takes us on an insider’s journey down the corridors of power, where decision-makers struggle to apply old norms to a dramatic new paradigm in the face of Russia’s deep and unprecedented penetration into American politics, with our nation’s rule of law hanging in the balance. Each character’s actions in these historic months made the careers of some, destroyed the careers of others and helped shape the incendiary political landscape we live in today.

In addition to Gleeson and Daniels, The Comey Rule Holly Hunter as former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, Michael Kelly as former FBI Director Andrew McCabe, Jennifer Ehle as Patrice Comey, Scoot McNairy as former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Jonathan Banks as former National Intelligence Director James Clapper, Oona Chaplin as former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, Amy Seimetz as former FBI lawyer Trisha Anderson, Steven Pasquale as former FBI agent Peter Strzok, Peter Coyote as Robert Mueller, and Kingsley Ben-Adir as President Barack Obama.
