Brie Larson Has An Idea For A ‘Fast’ Spin-Off That Everyone Will Surely Hate

In an effort to add to their already star-studded cast, the Fast & Furious franchise recruited Academy Award-winning actress and Marvel Cinematic Universe headline Brie Larson to join its ranks for Fast X.

Playing a character named Tess, the daughter of Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody, Larson appears to have a rather significant role in Fast X if the latest trailer is to be believed, as the 33-year-old is featured quite prominently in the final, four-minute-long (!) teaser for the film.

At the official premiere of the blockbuster in Rome over the weekend, Larson indicated that she’d like to see her role in the Fast franchise grow from here as she’s open to appearing in an all-female spin-off.

“I don’t think we’d be mad about anything that involved ladies all together,” Larson told ET Online on the red carpet. “It was very clear that we would love to spend more time together.”

Jordana Brewster, who’s starred in the franchise since the original 2001 film, agreed with Larson, saying “Here’s what I would like to see. I would like to see Charlize [Theron], me, Natalie [Emmanuel], Michelle, Brie. I would like to see us all kick some a** together!”

While a female-character-led Fast spin-off may never come to fruition, we may be getting more movies in the franchise than expected. Originally planned as a two-part finale, Vin Diesel implied at the premiere in Italy that a trilogy of films to close out the franchise is in play. Given the caliber of actresses involved in the franchise, though, an all-female-led spinoff would undoubtedly be more interesting than continuing to drag out the main series.

In addition to the Oscar-winning Larson, Fast X stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jason Momoa, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and Rita Moreno. Fast X hits theaters in the United States on Friday, May 19.

Fast X isn’t the only massive blockbuster that Larson has due up this year, as she’ll also be starring in The Marvels — the third and final Marvel Cinematic Universe movie of the year — when it hits theaters in November.
