Following her show-stopping, headline-grabbing appearance at the premiere of Fast X in Rome, Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson swung over to France to begin her stint on the jury of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

During an official press conference on Monday, Larson was asked whether or not she intends to screen Jeanne du Barry, the new Johnny Depp-starring film that will premiere at the festival. Jeanne du Barry is Depp’s first appearance in a film following the conclusion of his lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

It’s important to note, however, that while Jeanne du Barry is premiering at Cannes, it will do so “out of competition” and is therefore not a requirement for jury members

“You’re asking me that?” Larson said during the press conference. “I’m sorry, I don’t understand the correlation or why me specifically. You’ll see, I guess, if I will see it. And I don’t know how I’ll feel about it if I do.”

In addition to Larson, the jury for the 2023 Cannes Film Festival is comprised of Ruben Ostlund — director of the recent Best Picture-nominated Triangle of Sadness — Paul Dano, Julia Ducournau, Damián Szifron, Atiq Rahimi, Rungano Nyoni, Denis Ménochet, and Maryam Touzani.

Larson will next be seen making her debut in the Fast & Furious franchise when Fast X hits theaters in the United States on Friday, May 19. In addition to the Oscar-winning Larson, Fast X stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jason Momoa, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and Rita Moreno.

Later this year, Larson will also be suiting up in the Captain Marvel suit as she stars in The Marvels — the third and final MCU film of the year following Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 — alongside Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-joon.
