Woman Books Cheapest Cruise She Could Find. She Probably Should Have Read The Fine Print First: ‘Just Sleep In Shifts’

Thinking about cheaping out on a cruise? One woman says that you might want to reconsider.

As anyone who’s ever tried to plan a boys’ weekend will tell you, going on vacation can be really, really expensive. Even if you’re cramming several people into one hotel room, you might end up paying a couple hundred dollars a night—and that’s before other costs like food, flights, and any activities you want to do when you’re there.

Naturally, there are different ways you can bring down the price of a vacation. One of those methods involves getting the absolute cheapest accommodation possible. Sure, you might sleep in a dump—but if you spend the whole day doing fun stuff, who cares if your mattress is just two yoga mats on a wood pallet?

One woman put this idea to the test by booking the cheapest room possible on a cruise ship. But as she approached the port, she realized she may have made a mistake.

What’s Up With The Room On This Cruise Ship?

In a video with over 571,000 views, TikTok user Justine Ramos (@thatflippingagent) says that she recently booked a Carnival cruise for herself and her husband. The four-night cruise cost a total of $386, or $193 per person.

However, Ramos soon realized that there was a reason that the cruise cost was so low.

“I booked the cheapest cruise that I could find, and I did not read the fine print. And when I went to check in, this is the room for me and my husband,” she starts.

Ramos then shows the room. While the room appears to be relatively large, the bed is not. In fact, it would appear to be a twin bed—which would be pretty awkward for two people.

“There’s one twin bed. We’re about to get on the boat,” she concludes, adding that the couple will do a “room reveal” when they arrive.

What Does A Cruise Do In This Situation?

If you also accidentally booked a twin bed for two people on a cruise ship, don’t panic. Well, you can panic a little bit—you’re an adult spending your vacation sleeping in a twin bed—but you shouldn’t worry that your two-person party won’t be accommodated.

In short, if you’re able to book a room like this for two people, chances are high that the cruise ship has come up with a way for both of you to sleep in (relative) comfort.

Ramos appears to show what is called an “Interior Upper/Lower” room on the Carnival Firenze. This ultra-budget option houses two people by giving one a twin bed and providing an upper pullman, which is a bed that sits above another bed.

In a follow-up video, Ramos reveals that she did get a pullman bed. Still, she doesn’t seem dissatisfied with the room.

“This room is much better than I expected,” she says, adding that it is “spacious” and “clean.” The room is, in fact, spacious, though some commenters speculated that this may be due to the fact that it is an accessible room.

Overall, Ramos is happy. In an email to BroBible, she says that she did try to upgrade after boarding but was told the ship was full. That said, she claims that the small beds weren’t a dealbreaker.

“Honestly, for the price of $48 a night we are not complaining,” she wrote. “Our expectations have been exceeded. I would absolutely book the Carnival Firenze again!”

“My advice would be to read the fine print,” she added. “When I booked I’m pretty positive it showed a stock photo with a queen bed, so I didn’t read that it was small bunk beds!”

Commenters Don’t Hate It

Users in the comments section said that, while they would be disappointed by the small bed, they didn’t totally hate the idea.

“Honestly, I would be perfectly okay with the bunk beds. You get so much more room,” wrote a user.

“The way I would prefer separate beds from my husband,” shared another. “No stealing blankets. Fart in your own bed.”

Still, some made jokes about the idea of sharing a twin bed.

“Just sleep in shifts,” said a commenter.

“If y’all weren’t married, this would be the start of a great enemies to lovers one bed trope,” offered a second.
